This a where you can pave over a freeway’s carpool lanes with toll roads, and few will complain. You can propose a 40-story skyrise in the center of Hollywood, and hardly anyone two miles to the west will take notice. You can squander public money, close down the ports and flatten landmarks, and many residents of this sprawling metropolis will simply yawn and move on.
But “Taco trucks are iconic here,” said Aaron Sonderleiter, a teacher from the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles and one of the petition founders.

MarkTalk has already signed. These exotic roach coaches are not only monuments here in sunny CA but mini UN’s. Mexican food from a black Korean guy parked on the road side. Banning them here is the equivalent of telling Jimmy’s that they can’t sell cheese steaks, closing down New York City’s hole in the wall pizza by the slice joints or ordering the local greasy spoon to clean its grill of all the crud that gives the food its flavor. Just unimaginable. Like we should all eat at Olive Garden or something.

MarkTalk prides itself on being a streamlined yet highly useful resource to tools and works that you need to stay informed and even entertained. To that end we do not post endless lists of links and try to keep clutter to a minimum so when we add a new link or category of links we try to pack as much information into an easy to understand format as possible.
Today we added a whole new category of links to which you need access.
Look to the sidebar on the right. You will see a new category of links called “Government Pork“. The new links are to databases to spending, pork, and government employee salaries. Many of these databases are searchable - the federal spending link for example can be searched by project, elected officials involved or district. The salary databases for federal employees and for California state employees are searchable, and the California link includes links to similar sites in 17 other states as well.
We hope that you bookmark this site and use us as sort of a Yellow Brick Road on your travels through the world of information overload!
