Attention WROW listeners; Today’s “Must Call” telephone numbers to lobby for a NY gas tax holiday
We won a huge victory in the New York State Senate yesterday when the proposed state gas tax holiday (Memorial Day until Labor Day) passed 46 - 15 after prolonged debate. Virtually every senator outside of the festering sewers of New York City voted for the holiday which would temporarily suspend the state’s .32 cents per gallon gas tax.
Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D-Manhattan) has vowed that the lower house will never entertain a vote on the bill. As Senator Hugh Farley told us on the show yesterday, Shelly knows that the holiday will pass by a huge margin in his house if it hits the floor so he is determined to keep it buried.
Yesterday we began pelting Silver with telephone calls to demand that he call a vote. Today we are targeting the Capitol Region obstructionist democrats, including majority leader (and Shelly’s Mini-Me) Ron Canestari (D- Albany, Rensselar, Saratoga).
