Holly in New Year’s burger heaven
It is generally agreed that the world’s greatest drive-in and thru burgers on the planet at one time (in the Jurassic Age) came from A & W… indeed, there is still a classic A&W in Modesto (home of George Lucas and locale of “American Graffiti”), but it is a one-of-a-kind living museum piece.
For true Californians the only place to grab a burger on the run is In & Out, but for the real burger connoisseur who is on the road - especially with an affection to the Swing Era and shakes so thick you could walk on them…. well, nothing…. nothing beats Ruby’s! (one of their very few East Coast outposts is in Ardmore - on the Main Line, outside Philly - was our only non-cheesesteak, non-Italian food for two years).
Holly just called… she is on her way home from Upstate NY and between flights in Vegas, and has made the mad double-tram dash from Terminal C to deep within Terminal D at McCarran, where resides a Ruby’s that has saved us from starvation during several X-Country trips…. FYI, with time between flights she usually cabs onto the Strip for a while, but she’s burger deprived and has been looking forward to this plane change for days.
