FEMA official who staged fake press conference promoted
Pat Philbin is the FEMA official who came up with the bright idea to stage a phony press conference, in Washington and featuring FEMA employees masquerading as reporters. The FEMA fake reporters were given questions to ask along the lines of …… “So, how is it that FEMA did such a great job in California so quickly?” ….. okay, that’s a paraphrase, but you get the idea. Best part of all, FEMA wasn’t even on the ground in CA yet, beyond a few guys in suits getting in the way of people doing their jobs.
Over the weekend, Homeland Security Director Michael Jerkoff made a big deal out of pretending to be upset about this over the weekend… translation: he was pissed off that the story leaked.
Today Pat starts his punishment: a promotion to the director of communication for the United States Director of National Intelligence.
Whether or not this country can survive what is left of the tattered remains of the Bush presidency is an open question.
UPDATE 10/30: in what may be a rare instance of the angels of common sense reigning over Washington, The ODNI has decided that Philbin will NOT get his promotion after all… at least right away. They’re thinking it over
